DIN EN 60529
De beschermingsgraad geeft aan in hoeverre elektrisch materiaal geschikt is voor diverse omgevingsomstandigheden. De beschermingsgraad wordt aangegeven door de IP-code, die uit twee cijfers bestaat. Het eerste cijfer geeft de bescherming tegen vreemde voorwerpen aan, het tweede cijfer de bescherming tegen het binnendringen van water.
