Classic installation housings are usually compactly designed so that they can be used as classic junction boxes and installed in a space-saving manner. However, if not only lines and cables are to be safely branched, but if these are to be combined with a switch in network technology, for example, compact junction boxes often reach their limits. The large junction boxes of the Hanse-SNL series are intended as an interface between the larger empty enclosures (industrial enclosures) and the smaller junction boxes and offer the advantages of both enclosure types.

The enclosures of the Hanse-SNL series are especially characterised by the fact that the cable branches are accommodated in the junction box by a few simple steps. Integrated step nipples offer uncomplicated cable feed-through. The step nipples can be cut to fit the cable cross-section; the remaining step nipple then fits snugly around the cable sheath to ensure protection class IP55. The step nipples that are not needed remain and serve as blind plugs in the enclosure and thus always allow cables to be routed into the enclosure in the future in the simplest way.

Particularly in the case of larger industrial enclosures that contain electronics such as buttons, switches, membrane keypads or other components, the question often arises as to how complicated it is to access the components after the enclosure has been mounted and to maintain or process them. For this purpose, the cover must be opened, which is particularly tight on the enclosure in the case of high protection classes and should not be easy to open. The smart junction boxes of the Hanse-SNL series have cover screws made of polyamide with an additional hinge function. When loosening the screws, an intermediate stage enables the use of the screws as a door hinge. This allows the enclosure lid to be opened as with a switch cabinet. Especially if additional network technology such as a switch is installed in the enclosure, access to the built-in components is probably required more frequently. Hinge screws make it possible without the screws or the screw holes wearing out. No matter how often you open and close the lid.

In addition to the associated hinge cover screws and the integrated step nipples, further optional accessories are available for the Hanse-SNL series. On the one hand, a mounting plate can be used to fasten built-in components, and DIN mounting rails are also available for inserting electrical fuses or similar in the housing. The housing itself can be mounted with a special wall mounting kit, thus completing the uncomplicated mounting procedure.
